Mesilou Village is a Kadazan-Dusun village located close to Mount Kinabalu in Kundasang, Sabah. It is the gate-way to the well-known Mesilau Nature Park, Desa Dairy Farm and Mount Kinabalu Golf Club (MKGC). It can be reached by any type of transport in about one and a half hours fromKota Kinabalu and in less then 15 minutes drive from Kundasang small town.
Mesilou is derived from the Dusun words “osilou” which means yellow, because the rivers that cross the village are naturally yellow in colour. Atamis means cold, because of the cool climate of the village as it lies at an altitude of about 1800m above sea-level and located very close to Mount Kinabalu The temperatures can be as low as 15°C during the night. Of the natural resources here, the rivers are particularly very well maintained and the village is an ideal location for nature-related activities.
